About Us

West Island Community Shares is a fundraising organization that currently supports 41 local community groups. These groups provide frontline services to thousands of residents whose needs range from support in coping with poverty and food insecurity to cancer, troubled youth, substance abuse, mental illness and more. Since 1998, it has raised and distributed more than $13 million to local community groups.

What makes us unique:

  • 100% of donations raised go directly to the groups we support thanks to corporate partners that cover our operational costs. We are the only fundraising group in Canada to implement and sustain this model since 1998.
  • We offer recurrent funding so the groups we support count on us year-after-year.
  • We have earned Imagine Canada’s Standards Program Accreditation. The accreditation testifies to our excellence in governance, financial accountability and transparency, fundraising, staff management and volunteer involvement. ‚Äč
