When all combined, our community organizations receive more than 35,000 requests for youth support.
Support Vulnerable & Marginalized Populations
Vulnerable populations include a wide range of residents. Did you know that in the West Island only there are 77,880 immigrants, 10,675 seniors living alone and 10,218 single parent families.
Foster Healthy Bodies & Healthy Minds
During the first wave of the pandemic, Statistics Canada reported that 27% of people aged 15 – 24, 19% of middle-aged adults and 10% of seniors, had symptoms of moderate to severe anxiety related to COVID-19.
Provide Basic Necessities Such As Food & Shelter
Did you know that 24,000 West Islanders are living on a low income and more than 750 West Island families are served by our local food banks each month. Of those recipients, 63% are under the age of 25 years old.
Still today, in our community, gender inequalities and violences against women and girls are ubiquitous. Help is needed to empower women to take charge of their destiny to reach their full potential.
Support Green Initiatives
This fund has been identified as a new priority in our strategic planning session held in December 2019 and will be developed over the next few years.
