Reporting to the Executive Director: Working directly with the Executive Director, and liaising with all team members, the Communications and Events Manager's responsibilities will be divided into two categories:
Primary: Communications. The chosen candidate will set the tone for messaging to external partners. He/she will be a strong writer in both English and Frenchand will develop all content. This role will have the technical skills and background to manage the messaging on all of our digital platforms.
Secondary: Events. The chosen candidate will not only support all events with their communications, he/she will also lead the development, coordination and implementation of some these events.
Communications Responsibilities include:
Prepare annual fundraising campaign key messaging: coordinate materials (posters, billboard) and put together master communications plan for each campaign year
Develop content for mailings, email blasts and other communications with our donors and stakeholders
Maintain website up to date, develop content, keep it fresh
Develop a yearly, monthly, weekly digital media strategy
Coordinate all social media channels
Develop visibility plan for corporate partners
Develop annual report
Events Responsibilities include:
Participate in strategic planning sessions regarding Fundraising Events
Independently manage fundraising event dossiers as assigned by the Fundraising & Events Manager
Participate in event committee meetings and ensure constant communication and follow up with stakeholders
Prepare financial forecasts and maintain updated budget information for each event
Provide support for all other events as needed
Education & Experience
Minimum of an Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Event Planning, etc.)
Minimum 5-year experience in communications and social media development (website management and social media channels), as well as relevant event planning experience preferably in the non-for-profit sector
Required Skills We are a small organization and are looking for an individual who is extremely flexible and can work on a wide range of projects.
Perfectly bilingual in both French & English: written and spoken
Proven experience in branding and developing communications campaigns
Ability to defend the needs and requirements of the organization to potential donors
Excellent knowledge of all social media platforms
Problem-solving skills and able to work independently
Strong team player and ability to work harmoniously with internal team and external stakeholders
