SUMMER STUDENT POSITION-Communications & Community Engagement Assistant

Are you creative, outgoing, passionate about social media, and looking for meaningful work this summer? West Island Community Shares (WICS) is looking for an energetic and motivated student to join our team and help tell the stories of our community while supporting local fundraising initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives.
At WICS, we support 42 local community organizations helping vulnerable children, youth, families, seniors, and individuals across the West Island. This summer, we are looking for someone who wants to use their creativity and communication skills to help strengthen and celebrate our community sector.
Position Details
- · Summer Contract Position
- · Part-time: 30 hours/week (Monday–Thursday)
- · 8-week contract
- · 18$/hour
- · Hybrid/Flexible community-based work environment
Responsibilities
Working closely with the Executive Director and the WICS team, the Communications & Community Engagement Assistant will:
- Assist in managing and growing WICS social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and more
- Help create an engaging social media strategy and content calendar
- Capture photos, videos, testimonials, and community stories from local organizations and events
- Design creative digital content and promotional materials
- Support website updates and communications initiatives
- Assist with fundraising efforts for our major end-of-summer fundraising event by: Researching and securing auction items from local businesses
- Support community events and outreach initiatives throughout the summer
- Provide general support to the Executive Director and office team as needed
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is:
- A full-time student CEGEP or University returning to studies in the Fall
- Creative, outgoing, and passionate about community impact
- Comfortable with social media platforms and content creation
- Organized, dynamic, and able to work independently
- A strong communicator and team player
- Bilingual (English/French)
- Experience in communications, marketing, photography/video, or volunteering in the nonprofit sector is an asset
